GOD'S WILL IS HEALING

Romans 1:16 NKJV- "For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jews first and also for the Greek." For centuries, philosophers and theologians have debated the subject of Divine healing. Between them, they relegated the whole subject to an untouched back burner where it was all but completely lost to the Body of Christ. Even so, the Word of God has never changed in the slightest. These "scholars" concluded that God no longer moves in that way anymore because they had not seen it. Their unbelief did not change what Jesus told His disciples to do. Whether we obey or disobey, the Word of God remains the same. Whether we like what it says or not, the Word of God remains the same.

The Good News that God gave us through His Word is a message of complete salvation in every area of our lives. Read Romans 1:16. This passage clearly states that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation. That's from the Greek word, "sozo" The Greek term implies five distinct things: 1. Salvation; 2. Protection; 3. Healing; 4. Deliverance; 5. Prosperity.

When the Bible says we can be saved, it is saying that we can be saved, to be sure. It's also saying we can be protected from evil and from harm. It's saying we can be healed in our physical body. It's saying we can be delivered from the wicked plans and activities of the Evil One. It's also saying we can prosper in every area of human endeavor, physical, emotional, mental, political, spiritual, and financial. When Jesus preached the gospel, He was preaching deliverance from bondage of every kind. Wherever Jesus went, He healed the sick and set the captive free. When He sent the disciples out, He told them to do the same. Read Matthew 10:7-8. Healing the sick is just as much a part of the Gospel of Salvation today as it was in the first century.

This part of the Gospel may have faded from the thinking of much of the Body of Christ, but the Word still reads exactly the same. If you read through the four Gospels and Acts, you will see that every time the Gospel was preached it was accompanied by healing for the sick. Any Gospel message that does not include this today is less than that preached by Jesus and His disciples. Preaching the whole Gospel must included proclaiming healing to those in need of it.

Under both the Old and New Covenants, God made provision for His people to be healed. Under the Old Covenant. God promised to remove all sickness from the childred of Israel if they would remain faithful to Him. Read Deuteronomy 7:15. God gave them a choice, life or death. While giving them that choice, He made His will abundantly clear. Deuteronomy 30:19, "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your decendants might live!"

God's will is healing. Is is much His will to heal sickness, as it is to save the lost. In fact, the healing of our bodies is as much a part of His redemptive plan as the saving of our souls. The will of God regarding healing and health is explicit in both Old and New Testaments. God never changes. Neither does His will changes. In the Old Testament healing is one of the redemptive names of God, Jehovah Rapha. In the New Testament, Jesus showed us exactly what the Heavenly Father is like. Hebrews 1:3a NKJV "The Son reflects God's own glory, and everything about Him represents God exactly." Everywhere Jesus went He healed the sick, thus revealing that healing is the will of God!

Under the Old Covenant, God revealed His will concerning healing by giving the children of Israel His covenant name, Jehovah-Rapha the Lord that Heals. Jesus came to do the willof Jehova-Rapha on the earth; He demonstrated that God is a healing God. Hebrews 13:8 says that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He was Jehova-Rapha yesterday. He is Jehova-Rapha today. He will be Jehova-Rapha throughout the ages of eternity. God has not withdraw that part of His character that desires health for His people. Healing the sick has always been and will always be the will of God. We must get this firmly seated in our thinking if we expect to receive healing from God.

The New Covenant is, according to the book of Hebrews, a better covenant, more sure and steadfast. It is absurd to think that God would withdraw this blessing when He instituted a "better" covenant. He has not changed since the days of Moses when he promised to "remove all sickness" from His people so they, we, could walk in complete health!!!!
